Description

Arduino UNO SMD Board – High Performance Microcontroller Board for DIY Electronics and Robotics. The Arduino UNO SMD is the most popular and widely used microcontroller development board in the Arduino family, designed for beginners, hobbyists, engineers, and professional developers. Unlike previous Arduino boards that relied on the FTDI USB-to-serial driver chip, the UNO SMD uses the advanced Atmega16U2 microcontroller (Atmega8U2 in earlier revisions) programmed as a USB-to-serial converter. This provides faster transfer rates, greater stability, and improved compatibility with modern operating systems.

The board went through multiple revisions to improve usability and performance. Revision 2 added a resistor pulling the 8U2 HWB line to ground for easier DFU mode programming. Revision 3 introduced the new 1.0 pinout standard, featuring additional SDA and SCL pins near the AREF pin, and two extra pins near the RESET pin: IOREF, which enables shields to automatically adapt to the board’s voltage (5V or 3.3V), and a reserved pin for future use. It also features a stronger RESET circuit and a reliable Atmega16U2 USB interface, ensuring smooth and stable operation.
